Jefferson Smith, is boy ranger headquarters who turned out into a senator following a death of a senator from his state. With Senator Joe Paine, the friend of his father, Jeff started to take a seat in the Senate. The Conflict emerged when Jeff wanted to propose a bill that dealing with he use of the land in his state to build a boy camp, which later will be used for all boys from whole country and form outside of United States, in that camp, the boys intended to be taught about the essential values about United States of America. Senator Joe Paine surprisingly stood in opposition side. He later spoke that Jeff wanted to use the land for his own benefit. Jeff is very shocked about this, he later tried to figured out things and found that Joe Paine is unexpectedly controlled by Mr. Taylor, a big businessmen of his state, and the fact is Mr. Taylor wanted to use that land for his own advantages.

Based on the novel The Gentleman From Montana by Lewis R. Foster. Frank Capra directed this film starring James Stewart (Born to Dance, You can’t take it with you), Jean Arthur(Shane), Claude Rains (The Invisible Man, Adventure of Robin Hood), Mr. Smith depicted as a hick guy who came out from his state and directly sit in the senate. Jean Arthur, played as a fierce secretary who later fall in love with Jefferson Smith. Joe Paine was played by Claude Rains. This film is remarked as #26 American Film Institute best American Movies All the Time, right behind To Kill A Mockingbird by Robert Mulligan. It’s well appreciated because of it’s touchy storytelling about the foundation objective of United States of America, the graft which inherently associated with the senate, and it showed how a big business control the people’s mind through the media. Frank Capra (It Happened One Night, Lost Horizon) used dissolve cutting in most part of the film and especially in the beginning, he uses a cluster and fast dialogue among the characters. Well, if you are a fans of political drama, this film is a kind of classical picture you have to see.
